Yet another caffeine stickler sues Starbucks

This time, it's cold beverage ratios which have ruffled the feathers of Starbucks' litigation-happy customers.

Last time it was the foam – this time, it’s the ice. Less than two months have passed since a pair of Starbucks customers launched a class action lawsuit against the coffee giant which accused it of under-filling the lattes of caffeine aficionados across the United States – a claim with Starbucks bluntly dismissed as ‘without merit.’ Now, however, Starbucks is fending off another portion-related lawsuit from yet another disgruntled customer. The Chicago plaintiff has accused Starbucks of misrepresenting the portion sizes of its cold beverages, such as iced coffees, by topping up cups with too much ice. ‘[A] Starbucks customer who orders a Venti Cold Drink receives only 14 fluid ounces of that drink – just over half the advertised amount,’ the lawsuit reads. While topping drinks up with ice is ‘standard practice’ at Starbucks, a spokesperson for the coffee group reiterated that customers can request less ice if they choose. ‘Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any ‘iced’ beverage,’ the spokesperson retorted.
