Forty-two per cent of finance directors have said that their firms are likely to see cuts in areas no longer in demand over  the next year - a twenty-five per cent increase on two years ago. Instead,  they will expand into new growth area such as energy and construction work. The survey, by Thomspon Reuters, also saw an increase in firms planning to expand overseas, thirty-three per cent in comparison to thirteen per cent two years ago.
