Addleshaw-Maclays merger pencilled in for May 2016

An English-Scottish law firm merger is understood to have been negotiated between the leadership teams of London-based Addleshaw Goddard and Maclay Murray & Spens, which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

The move has still to be put to the vote with partners. Together, the firms would have revenue of £236 million per year. The Lawyer magazine understands that discussions took place over the summer, but neither firm would confirm any such developments.

Merger possibililty

A spokesperson for Addleshaw Goddard said: 'We’ve consistently said that a merger at some point in the future is a possibility we’d consider. It’s an option we keep under regular review, but there’s nothing to report.' Source: The Lawyer
