Global managing partner Paul Jenkins said, “It is an exciting time to be opening our global delivery centre at 180 Ann Street. This new space enables us to expand the delivery of our innovative business and legal services to even more of our clients. This demonstrates our commitment to and investment in innovative and new approaches.” Mr Jenkins explained, “The global delivery centre builds on the successful establishment of a delivery centre in Glasgow, which has resulted in over 300 new roles since its inception in 2013. Brisbane and Glasgow will work together as one truly global operation, providing coverage across the whole of Ashurst's international platform. Utilising these hubs enables our lawyers to deliver their work in an agile and efficient way, and is central to ensure Ashurst continues to evolve with our changing sector and the changing needs of our clients. The Ann Street office will help us to continue to transform the way we work, and deliver commercial solutions in a globally consistent way.”

Collaborative workspace

The firms says the new centre features smart technology and environmentally sustainable design features, using an innovative delivery philosophy of the office which required a flexible and collaborative workspace. The establishment of the office also received support from the Queensland Government’s Advance Queensland Industry Attraction Fund which was instrumental in choosing Brisbane as the preferred location for this investment. Ashurst’s Australian head of HR, Richard Knox, who will also be the head of office, commented “The 180 Ann Street office is modern and dynamic, with an open plan layout to maximise the space as well as capitalise on the opportunity to collaborate across teams.” Mr Knox explained, “Late last year we established a team of legal analysts to focus on document intensive projects and support a broad range of practice areas. We have already expanded that team and expect further growth, as well as the addition of new Ashurst Advance roles at the global delivery centre.”
