Netflix is facing a lawsuit from The Satanic Temple over its alleged use of a copyrighted design in “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” the streaming company’s spin on the story of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The Satanist organisation claims that the production team behind Netflix’s new show used a copyrighted statue of Baphomet as set dressing.

The Satantic Temple

Lucien Greaves, co-founder of and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, told the San Francisco Chronicle that a pre-action letter had been issued to the streaming media giant. He added: “[Using the statue] is deeply problematic to us … even if that wasn’t the case, we’d be obligated to make a copyright claim because that’s how copyright works.” According to Greaves, the Baphomet statue was specifically designed and built for The Satanic Temple and they also own the copyright for the statue.
