Eversheds Sutherland has appointed partner Cynthia R Shoss to its global board, joining Pamela Thompson as co-chair. The firm says having two female co-chairs on the global board marks a diversity milestone, with women now comprising 30 per cent of Eversheds Sutherland’s global governing body.

Diversity commitment

Ms Shoss is a partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s New York office, and the co-head of the global insurance team. She is a nationally recognized adviser on insurance regulatory matters. Mark D Wasserman, co-ceo of Eversheds Sutherland, said “For Cynthia, this new role is a natural next step after her successful tenure on the US executive committee. She is a highly accomplished leader, and her guidance will be incredibly valuable as we steer Eversheds Sutherland on a path of continued success.” Mr Wasserman explained, “Our commitment to increasing diversity is applicable at all levels of Eversheds Sutherland, and I am thrilled that our global board is now being led by two women.” Ms Thompson is a partner in the firm’s financial services team and the first female chair of Eversheds Sutherland (International). Lee Ranson, co-ceo of Eversheds Sutherland, said “Pamela is a strong voice and an important part of Eversheds Sutherland’s leadership team, and we are pleased to welcome Cynthia in her new global role alongside Pamela.”

“Growing female presence”

“I am thrilled to serve as co-chair of the Global Board alongside Pamela, whom I very much admire,” said Ms. Shoss. “With our continuing focus on client service, excellence and innovation, and with almost three years of shared history and successes, we are at an especially exciting moment in Eversheds Sutherland’s trajectory and the strategic planning for our next phase. I am honored to have been asked to help guide the firm into that next phase of our evolution and deeply appreciative of the trust the US Executive Committee and the global board have placed in me.” Ms. Thompson commented: “I am delighted by the addition of Cynthia to our global board and I very much look forward to working closely with her to help shape the future of Eversheds Sutherland. The growing female presence within the global governing body reflects an increasingly diverse culture across the business, for which I am proud to be a voice.”
