The study, by Michael Simkovic of Seton Hall Law School and Frank McIntyre of Rutgers Business School, found that while the average debt for private law schools was $125,000, this expensive degree could be a good down payment for a high earning career. The pair also found that law graduates earn an average opf $53,000 more per year than those with bachelor’s degrees before taxes and peak at middle age for law graduates whilst remaining on the level for those with bachelor’s degrees. The research - The  Economic Value of A Law Degree - considered the careers of 33,158 people, 1382 of whom had law degrees.
