The new year will see the Simmons & Simmons Milan office swell its ranks with the creation of an administrative law team in place from the 1 January 2020.

Experienced team

The new team will be led by Mauro Pisapia as partner in a move that the firms says will further strengthen its cross-practice and cross-sector offerings in Italy. Mr Pisapia has nearly 30-years of administrative law experience, bringing to Simmons a range of capabilities. He represents clients before multiple authorities and also handles out-of-court matters. Mr Pisapia is also actively involved in drafting planning tools, public contracts, environmental law, and energy, trade and real estate contracts, and is chairman of arbitration boards and sits on boards of public service concession companies. The new team will also comprise of counsel Luigi Pontrelli, who brings experience in public contracts, energy and public agreements, and senior associate Francesco Cappello experienced in administrative litigation and public contracts.

Synergies

Commenting on the team’s arrival, Andrea Accornero, partner and Italy country head, said “Administrative law continues to be very important for us, especially in terms of synergies with our litigation, financial markets, and real estate departments. This new team will also reinforce our offerings in energy and natural resources, infrastructure, healthcare and life sciences.” Jeremy Hoyland, managing partner, commented “These new arrivals will allow us to further enhance and diversify our offering and to serve our ever-growing client portfolio, confirming our continued commitment to investing in our Milan office.”
