Squire Patton Boggs has boosted its corporate teams in London and Leeds with the addition of two partners from HFW and Eversheds Sutherland.

Former HFW capital markets and M&A specialist Jayson Marks joins Squire Patton Boggs’ global corporate practice in London, while ex-Eversheds dealmaker David Milne will be based in the firm’s Leeds office. Marks is the latest HFW alumni to join the firm, following the arrival of five partners and four associates earlier this year, including HFW’s former global corporate practice head Brian Gordon.

Jane Haxby, Squire Patton Boggs’ London office managing partner, said: “Jayson’s skills and track record in equity capital markets transactions and cross-border M&A boost our UK and international capabilities in London. He will fit well into an existing dynamic equity capital markets and corporate team that works seamlessly across sectors acting for public and private companies in complex transactions.”

She added that Marks’s experience in the oil and gas sector – including in-house work at a Nigerian oil and gas company – will provide additional value for the firm’s natural resources clients, as well as those based in sub-Saharan Africa.

Marks brings with him more than 15 years of experience helping companies with IPOs, fundraising and other types of equity-related transactions. He spent five years as a partner at HFW and almost a decade at Pinsent Masons as a senior associate.

Milne, meantime, specialises in private equity and global M&A, and has advised on more than 100 deals across multiple industries and geographies. Milne had spent just over 15 years at Eversheds, having made partner in 2018.

John Alderton, managing partner of the Leeds office, said: “David joins a dynamic corporate team in Leeds that has been performing at the top of the market year after year and has continued to deliver deal after deal even through the difficulties of the last few months. He is well known to the team already, having worked beside or opposite our corporate partners on several transactions in recent years.”

Milne added: “I am really excited to be joining such a strong local team as part of a powerhouse global firm and to be working with a variety of private equity and corporate clients, as well as shareholders and management teams.”

Last week, Squire announced a strategic decision to close its Doha office – with the team transferring across to Crowell & Moring – as well as the abolition of core hours in the UK and the trial of enhanced flexible working as it moves into a new London headquarters.
