Abercrombie & Fitch general counsel steps down L.F

The general counsel for infamous and controversial clothes retailer Abercrombie & Fitch has resigned, according to the Columbus DispatchRonald A. ‘Rocky’ Robins Jr. will resign as senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and secretary with effect from approximately August 30th.  Robins’ intention is to return to private practice at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, the law firm he was a partner at prior to joining Abercrombie in 2009 and which advises Abercrombie & Fitch.

Simon Dowler will replace Tom Kilroy as new general counsel for software company Misys. Dowler was most recently vice-president for the firm since 2008, while former interim CEO Kilroy said goodbye to Misys just last month to join Genus, a biotechnology company.

US private timber company Weyerhaeuser, which controls millions of acres of timberlands in the US and Canada, has elected Devin Stockfish as corporate secretary. Mr Stockfish will continue to serve as assistant general counsel and takes over from Claire Grace who will be assistant general counsel until she is due to retire next month after approximately 13 years as corporate secretary. Prior to joining Weyerhaeuser, Mr Stockfish was vice president and associate general counsel at Univar Inc. "Since joining Weyerhaeuser in March of this year, Devin has proven himself to be a quick study who demonstrates extraordinary professionalism and brings a valuable set of skills and experience to the company," said Sandy McDade, senior vice president and general counsel. "He is an outstanding addition to our leadership team."


Multi-line property and casualty insurer ACE Group has appointed Joseph Wayland as general counsel, Who’s Who Legal reports.  Mr Wayland takes up the post from the litigation practice at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, which he rejoined after a two year spell at the United States Department of Justice (DoJ). At the DoJ, he was the acting assistant attorney general of the antitrust division.  Operating in 53 countries worldwide, ACE is a global leader in commercial and personal insurance.
