The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has appointed Deirdre Stanley as executive vice president and general counsel, effective October 28. In her new role, Ms Stanley will be a member of the company’s executive leadership team and will jointly report to executive chair William Lauder and president and CEO Fabrizio Freda. She will succeed Sara Moss, who was recently promoted to the newly created role of vice chair, and will be responsible for global ELC legal organization and a strategic adviser to the organization and the board on both legal issues and the company’s business interests. Serbian IT company AIGO has hired Milica Topic as its manager of department for legal and personnel affairs in Belgrade. Ms Topic joins AIGO from Confluence Property Management,  where she was head of legal affairs for over nine years. Before moving in-house, Ms Topic was a solo practitioner between 2007 and 2010 and a senior legal counsel at Schoenherr Belgrade.

Boston-based data protection and cybersecurity company Carbonite has named its interim general counsel as the firm deals with an acquisition integration. Scott Semel is to take up leadership of the global legal function, replacing Danielle Sheer, who left the company earlier this year to pursue other avenues. The firm recently acquired Webroot and is seeking to accelerate the integration efforts.

Food kit delivery company Blue Apron has appointed their new general counsel. Meredith Deutsch took up the legal function leadership role this week. She becomes part of a leadership team that has come on board since its stock plunged earlier this year and the SEC threatened to delist Blue Apron. Ms Meredith Deutsch is appointed general counsel and corporate secretary.

Nasdaq has promoted its top lawyer to the role of vice Chairman and appointed a new chief legal officer. Taking the role of vice chairman is Edward Knight, who has been executive vice president and global chief legal and policy officer. Mr Knight will manage global government relations and continue to serve as an adviser on public policy and litigation. John Zecca, general counsel for North America, will take over the role of chief legal officer at Nasdaq.

Ex-prosecutor Robert Khuzami, who ran the SEC enforcement division from 2009 to 2013, has been appointed chief legal office and a managing partner by Guggenheim Partners. He has also joined the board of Guggenheim Partners Investment Management Holdings.  Mr Khuzami twice served, for some 14 years, in the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York, most recently as deputy US attorney. He also previously served as general counsel for the Americas at Deutsche Bank. Mr Khuzami will supervise the firm’s legal, regulatory and compliance activities. Guggenheim Partners has over $270 billion in assets under management and primarily operates in investment management, investment banking and insurance services.

Kathryn Stalmack has is the new senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Atlanta-based The Providence Service Corporation and its subsidiary LogistiCare Solutions, which offers non-emergency transportation services. In her new role, Ms Stalmack is responsible for all legal matters regarding the company including contracting, litigation, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. She succeeds Chinta Gaston, who is retiring, having served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Providence since January 2019 and as LogistiCare’s general counsel since 2003. Ms Stalmack was previously senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of infusion and home care management company BioScrip, a role she had held since 2015.

Cetera Financial Group has appointed David A Greene as general counsel. Mr Greene will be based at the company headquarters in El Segundo and report directly to Cetera's Chairman of the Board and Interim Chief Executive Officer, Ben Brigeman. He joins from FINRA, where he was Los Angeles district office director, bringing nearly three decades of experience as a practicing attorney, nineteen of which were within the financial services industry. Mr Greene succeeds outgoing general counsel Brian Stern, who announced his departure earlier in the year, though Mr Stern will continue at Cetera through a transition period.

TILT Holdings, a foundational technology cannabis platform comprised of assets to support brands worldwide, has announced the appointment of Marshall P Horowitz as general counsel. Mr Horowitz will be responsible for providing TILT’s senior management with legal advice that informs the Company's business strategy and its implementation. For more than 25 years, Mr. Horowitz has focused his practice on corporate legal and transactional work at national and international law firms.

Bastiaan de Bruijne has been appointed as the new general counsel at Airports Council International (ACI) Europe. He will succeed Gérard Borel who is retiring in early October. Mr de Bruijne joins ACI Europe from Royal Schiphol Group, where he served as Competition and Regulation Counsel. He previously worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and with two international law firms.
