Global weather and digital media provider AccuWeather has named Jennifer Chung as general counsel and chief legal officer. Ms Chung joined AccuWeather as associate general counsel early last year. In her elevated role, she will serve on the executive committee and advise AccuWeather's executives on all legal matters affecting the company, and provide legal support across all lines of business and functions, including in the areas of intellectual property (IP), regulatory compliance, ad sales, emerging technologies, media and data privacy. She will also serve as  secretary to the AccuWeather Board of Directors. Before joining AccuWeather, Ms Chung spent three and a half years as assistant general counsel for Time Inc (now Meredith Corp.).

Long-serving BAE System legal chief for air, Julie Smyth, has landed the post of the general counsel at GKN Aerospace. Ms Smyth leaves behind a legal team of 60, after seven years as chief counsel to take the lead on legal, risk, compliance and governance across GKN’s global aerospace business, based in London. She joined BAE in 1998. BAE has named Stuart Urquhart as Ms Smyth’s successor, which is an internal appointment. Mr Urquhart will combine his new role with his position as chief counsel for BAE Saudi Arabia.

Woolworths in Australia has hired Bill Reid away from Ashurst to be their new chief legal officer. The Ashurst partner had been on secondment with Woolworths Group since January 2019 and became chief legal officer las month.

Intiva Health, which provides free credential management software using distributed ledger technology, has announced its new general counsel. The company says Craig Reid is taking up responsibility for providing legal guidance to the executive team to minimize risk and improve the efficiency of the organization. Mr Reid joins Intiva Health with extensive experience in helping to grow multiple, health-related technology companies, having various held key legal roles at HNI Healthcare, Hay Compere, and K&L Gates.

Marsh & McLennan has announced the appointment of Michael Sevi as general counsel and chief compliance officer of its reinsurance broking subsidiary, Guy Carpenter. Mr Sevi will succeed Michael Borik, who has served as general counsel of Guy Carpenter for the past four years. Mr Borik will move into a joint business and legal role as managing director and chief counsel of Guy Carpenter’s Global Capital Solutions Group. Mr Sevi joined Marsh & McLennan in 2014 as a senior compliance officer for Marsh, and has since held several roles of increasing responsibility.

After a five month gap Clifford Chance has recruited its new UK chief operating officer from Lloyds Banking Group. The firm has appointed Sophie Schwass as regional chief operating officer for the UK, having been with Lloyds for nearly three years and previously director for chief of staff for legal at Barclays, taking various legal roles at the bank over a decade.

Univar Solutions has named its successor general counsel, while current gc Jeffrey Carr stays on to advise ceo before retiring next March. Noelle Perkins has been appointed senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Ms Perkins joined the company in March last year as deputy general counsel and assistant secretary. In that role she has led global compliance and enterprise risk-management programs for Univar Solutions. Before joining the company, she was chief counsel for the oilseeds processing segment of Archer Daniels Midland Company.

As antitrust probe continues to unfold, real estate analytics and data company CoreLogic has hired its new chief legal officer. Aaron Henry. Mr Henry most recently served as the general counsel for MoneyGram International Inc, and takes over as CoreLogic’s chief legal officer about five months after the departure of predecessor, Arnold Pinkston. In his new role, Henry is in charge of all global legal and compliance functions for CoreLogic and serves on the company’s executive committee.

Philadelphia-based PECO Energy, a subsidiary of Exelon Corp, has promoted its government affairs leader to the post of general counsel. Tony Gay is to replace Romulo Diaz, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
   
Energizer Holdings has announced the retirement of Kelly Boss, vice president and general counsel, who intends to retire from the company and will serve as executive counsel until next summer as part of a planned transition. Her replacement is Hannah Kim, assistant general counsel and corporate secretary, who has been appointed chief legal officer and corporate secretary reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. Ms Kim has served as Energizer's assistant general counsel and corporate secretary since June 2018, having previously been senior vice president and assistant general counsel for Bank of America.
