Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, sitting in the Family Division of the High Court in London awarded the ex-wife some 41.5 per cent of the couple’s £1 billion marital assets. In his ruling, he determined that the woman now aged 41 had made an equal contribution to the anonymous couple’s 20-year marriage. Her legal team was led by Baroness Shackleton of Belgravia.

The judge made a ruling preventing the man, from the Caucasus, and the woman, who was born in Eastern Europe, from being identified.

Unrepresented 

Her 61-year-old ex-husband, a former oil and gas trader, was unrepresented in court, failing to attend hearings in breach of multiple orders.

Exceeds previous record award

The previous record-breaking divorce award amounted to £330 million which went to  Jamie Cooper-Hohn, ex-wife of financier Sir Chris Hohn.
