Media company's new general counsel completes a round trip from role at Easyjet, while hotel resort is one of many checking-in in-house talent.

UK media company ITV has appointed Kyla Mullins as its new head of legal, filling a role vacated by Andrew Garard in July. Ms Mullins was general counsel at the airline EasyJet Group, though the new role is a return to ITV having previously been its group legal director between 2000 and 2007. Ms Mullins also had spells as general counsel at EMI Music and energy company Mitie before joining budget airline in 2015. Former general counsel Mr Garard had joined ITV as general counsel in 2007 and continued to provide assistance to ITV after his departure, including helping the company find his replacement.

Ms Mullins is replaced at EasyJet Group in an interim capacity by Clifford Chance partner Daud Khan. Mr Khan was only promoted to the magic circle firm’s partnership in May this year and was based in CC’s London office, focusing on corporate and M&A.

Playa Hotels & Resorts, an owner and operator of all-inclusive resorts such as Hyatt, Hilton and Jewel Resorts, announced an in-house lawyer is to get the top legal job. Matthew S Cohen has been appointed executive vice president and general counsel. Mr Cohen is based in Playa's corporate offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and will report directly to Bruce Wardinski, Playa's chairman and chief executive officer.

Another in-house appointee Jared DeMatteis has taken the step up and been appointed as the WeWork new global general counsel. Mr DeMattheis was previously serving as the deputy general counsel at the company, which provides shared workspaces for technology startup subculture communities.

Insys Therapeutics, a developer and provider of pharmaceutical cannabinoids and spray technology, has hired Mark Nance as its new chief legal officer and general counsel. Mr Nance succeeds Franc Del Fosse, who is moving to a new position at Insys Therapeutics as senior vice president of corporate affairs and will work closely with Mr Nance to effect a smooth transition. Mr Nance most recently served for five years as Mylan’s senior vice president and global general counsel.

MetLife has appointed senior vice president, associate general counsel and coo for legal affairs Tim Ring to the newly created role of chief sustainability officer. Mr Ring served as MetLife’s corporate secretary from 2013 to 2017, working with institutional shareholders on a range of issues and with the board’s governance and corporate responsibility committee to help it oversee MetLife’s performance on sustainability efforts. He has previously held senior positions in government relations at MetLife, having began his career with the company in 1990 handling media relations.

Kevin Boyle has taken up the top attorney role at Vectrus, a Colorado-based government services and technology company. The firm describes Mr Boyle as a career in-house lawyer with experience in the tech sector, and is appointed the company’s new senior vice president, general counsel and chief legal officer.

RBC Bearings Incorporated, an international manufacturer of highly-engineered precision bearings and components for the industrial, defense and aerospace industries, has announced the appointment of Joseph Salamunovich as general counsel and secretary. He was previously a partner at Strategic Law Partners.
