Dr. Zewdineh Beyene Haile is a co-founder and the managing partner of ALG LLP, a Washington, D.C.-based law firm. He represents states, their entities, and enterprises, as well as private sector clients in international dealings and disputes. Dr. Haile holds dual doctorate degrees: a JSD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and a PhD from the Moscow State Academy of Law. He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia before transitioning to private practice over two decades ago. Dr. Haile is one of the most prominent litigators in Ethiopia’s High Court, Supreme Court, and Court of Cassation, having handled numerous high-stakes cases. He has represented state agencies and state-owned enterprises in various negotiations and international arbitration proceedings across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Additionally, he has appeared as an expert witness in transnational litigation matters, including before the London High Court. His areas of expertise include international arbitration and litigation, government relations, public contracts, construction law, corporate law, private equity investment, mergers and acquisitions, mining, oil and gas, and the energy sectors. Dr. Haile also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Bahir Dar University.
