Hangil Lee

Hangil Lee is a Korea-licensed partner of the International Arbitration & Litigation Practice Group at BKL, who is also qualified to practice in the state of New York. She mainly represents domestic and foreign clients as well as governments. Hangil’s practice focuses on international civil litigation and arbitration, disputes involving financial institutions, corporate, civil and criminal lawsuits, post M&A and investment disputes, financial matters, construction, and energy disputes with international elements. Since joining BKL in 2013, Hangil has acted as counsel at all stages of international arbitrations under the major arbitration rules including ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, and KCAB, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. She has also represented clients, including the Korean government, in investor-state disputes (ISD). Hangil has advised and acted as counsel in various arbitral procedures, such as interim measures prior to commencing arbitration, enforcement procedures following the arbitral award, set-aside applications, and litigations in foreign courts. She recently won the “Arbitration Rising Star” award at 2022 Women in Business Law Awards by Euromoney Legal Media Group and was recognized as “Asia 40 under 40 2022” by Asian Legal Business.
