Pascal Michel, PhD (Epidemiology) is a seasoned public health professional who spent most of his career at the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), where he played a central role in health risk assessment, disease prevention, and international collaboration. From 2015 to 2022, he served as Chief Science Officer, providing executive leadership for PHAC’s scientific agenda, including scientific excellence, innovation, integrity, and the integration of science into public health policy and decision‑making. Dr. Michel has held multiple academic cross-appointments, including at the Université de Montréal, and is a co-founder of a multisectoral research centre focused on One Health. Over his career, he has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and official reports. Since 2024, he has been Senior Manager, Scientific Engagement at Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc.
