Pilar Colomés Iess is a dual New York and Spanish-qualified attorney and a founding partner of GNCI Law. A graduate of Columbia University (LLM), she has over 15 years of experience representing corporations, investors, and states in investment and commercial arbitration and complex transnational litigation cases. Pilar has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious legal organisations, including the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Herbert Smith Freehills in London, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York. She is recognised for her expertise navigating complex procedural issues in international arbitration and transnational disputes such as joinder of third parties, conflict of laws, conflicts of forum, cross-border discovery, enforcement and annulment of awards. Pilar acted in the successful representation of the Kingdom of Spain in the first two PV-saga investment arbitration and frequently represents states and investors in investment arbitration disputes. She often participates as panellist and lecturer at leading universities (Harvard University, New York University, Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), Universidad Francisco Marroquín) and international law associations and is a frequent contributor to arbitral and academic institutions.
