Addleshaw Goddard sets up Hong Kong association

Addleshaw Goddard is seeking regulatory approval to establish a formal association between its Hong Kong office and local practice Stewien & Co.

HK practice gives firm solid Asian platform to expand with wider network kwest

Addleshaw opened in Hong Kong in  May. Stewien & Co has specialisms in dispute resolution and corporate work. Its two partners - Nigel Francis, currently head of litigation and employment at Minter Ellison, and Brett Stewien, a corporate partner who joins from DLA Piper - will both become partners in Addleshaws 'as soon as local regulations allow'. 
 
Establishing a presence
 
Speaking of the new arrivals, Andrew Carpenter, Addleshaws international divisional managing partner, said: 'Their blend of market and specialist contentious and corporate skill sets is key to us establishing a strong presence in Hong Kong, an essential financial centre from which to service clients. Increasing levels of business between China and the Gulf as well as the strong connections between China and Africa will also provide many opportunities for our Hong Kong team to combine with our wider network.'
