Washington DC: FTI Consulting has a new general counsel Felix Lipov

FTI Consulting has recruited Curtis Lu as the company's general counsel. He will serve as a member of the firm's executive committee and will report directly to FTI Consulting's president and CEO, Steven Gunby. Mr Lu will be based out of the company's executive headquarters in Washington, DC. He began his career at Latham & Watkins, where he practiced commercial litigation for 11 years. From 2002 to 2006, he served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and acting general counsel for America Online (AOL). From 2006 to 2009, he was senior vice rresident, principal deputy general counsel and acting general counsel for the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae). From 2009 to 2010, Mr Curtis served as senior vice president, deputy general counsel and chief ethics and compliance officer for Time Warner. Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr Lu served as the general counsel of LightSquared, a wireless company that delivers mobile satellite voice and data services throughout North America.

RealtyMogul.com, the online peer-to-peer marketplace for real estate investing, has appointed Ryan Sakamoto as its general counsel. Mr Sakamoto will be responsible for overseeing all key legal affairs for the company, including investment and securities transactions, contracts and compliance matters. Prior to this, he was general counsel and chief administrative officer at Wedbush, a leading financial services and investment firm. Before Wedbush, he served as SVP and general counsel for Madison Tyler Holdings. 

Bath and body products company Crabtree & Evelyn has promoted Brent Canning to the role of general counsel. He most recently served as assistant general counsel at the company. Prior to that, he was a litigation partner at Hinckley Allen, focusing on intellectual property and commercial litigation. In his new position, he will be responsible for the global legal strategy of the Crabtree & Evelyn group of companies and will report directly to the global chief executive officer. 

Idera Pharmaceuticals has appointed Mark Casey as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of the board of directors. Mr Casey most recently served as chief administrative officer, senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Hologic Incorporated. Prior to Hologic, Mr Casey, held roles of increasing responsibility at Cytyc Corporation and Boston Scientific Corporation. Idera is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing toll-like receptor and RNA therapeutics for patients with cancer and rare diseases.
