UK-based residential property developer Barratt Developments has announced that deputy general counsel Nick Mullen will rise to the company's top legal post, following the retirement of former general counsel and company secretary Tom Keevil. Mr Keevil stepped down from the role on 31 December after five years leading Barratt's legal team. Mr Mullen will now hold the role of head of legal, while deputy company secretary Tina Bains will take over as company secretary.

Meanwhile, in the US, CSRA has named William 'Jim' Haynes II as its new executive vice president and general counsel. Mr Haynes joins CSRA from SIGA Technologies, where he also held the role of executive vice president and general counsel. He will now oversee legal affairs, compliance matters and corporate governance for the new company, which was formed in November following the merger of SRA International with the spun-off public sector arm of global IT services firm CSC.

Last week, multinational coupon platform RetailMeNot confirmed that Jonathan Kaplan will now officially hold the role of general counsel on a permanent basis. Mr Kaplan, formerly RetailMeNot's assistant general counsel, has occupied the GC post on an interim basis since December 2014, when then general counsel Lou Agnese was appointed as the group's chief financial officer. He will continue to oversea global legal and government affairs for the Texas-based company.

Agilent Technologies has promoted Michael Tang to the role of senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective immediately. Mr Tang has until now occupied the role of vice president, assistant general counsel and assistant secretary, as well serving as interim secretary since the exit of former general counsel Marie Oh Huber in April last year. A graduate of Columbia Law School who also holds a BA in Economics, Mr Tang represented public and private technology companies at Californian law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati prior to joining Agilent. Notable among his achievements is the spin-off of Agilent's electronic measuring business into Keysight Technologies, which Mr Tang oversaw as the lead attorney.

Finally, Hawaiian Airlines has named Aaron Alter as its new executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Mr Alter, who has provided legal advice to Hawaiian Airlines as an external corporate counsel for the last nine years, will replace outgoing chief legal officer Hoyt Zia. Prior to joining the airline, Mr Alter was a partner at Californian firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, where he has practiced for over 25 years. A legal high-achiever, his name has appeared in every edition of Best Lawyers in America since 2006, as well as on the Northern California Super Lawyers list since 2013. '[I am] very excited to be able to start a new chapter of my legal career with the iconic flag carrier of my home state,' said Mr Alter.
