Troubled retailer Tesco has appointed Diageo M&A general counsel David Berry as its first UK legal director. Mr Berry joins from Diageo where he was general counsel M&A, IP and antitrust.  Mr Berry will  report to general counsel Adrian Morris when he takes up the role on 1 September. He will become a member of the legal leadership team and the UK leadership team. Prior to Diageo he was a competition associate at Freshfields. Meanwhile Tesco senior UK property counsel Phil Warren left  the retailer to join Cornerstone Telecoms Infrastructure Limited (CTIL).

Chad Walker has been appointed the vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Morton Salt. He will replace Mary Doohan, who spent 23 years with the company. Prior to Morton, Mr Walker at McDonald’s Corporation for over ten years, most recently as assistant US general counsel. He was also deputy general counsel for the State of Illinois Department of Central Management Services.

Toshiba America Energy Systems (TAES) Corporation has appointed Robert Temple as general counsel and corporate secretary. Mr Temple, who was assistant general counsel for The Babcock & Wilcox Company, where he served as the chief legal advisor for Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Energy, Inc. and Babcock & Wilcox mPower, is an energy industry veteran. Prior to Babcock he  was secretary and general counsel for Generation mPower and CPS Energy and Commonwealth Edison (now Exelon). 

RedBrick Health, a provider of consumer health engagement and behavior change solutions, has hired Kim Stephan joins RedBrick as general counsel. Ms Stephan will oversee all legal matters including corporate, contract and intellectual property law. She will also advise the leadership team and board of directors in the areas of compliance, governance and risk management. Before joining RedBrick, Ms Stephan served as assistant general counsel and senior director of regulatory affairs at Capella Education Company. She also led the state regulatory function at Capella and managed the company's compliance and advocacy efforts. Prior to Capella, she was a partner with the law firm of Graham & Dunn in Seattle, where her practice included corporate securities and governance matters, regulatory affairs, and mergers and acquisitions. 

Cincinnati headquartered financial services company UniRush has appointed Stephen Middlebrook as general counsel and chief compliance officer. Prior to joining RushCard, which produces pre-paid cards, Mr Middlebrook was general counsel at FSV Payment Systems and was part of the team that sold that business to US Bank in December 2012. Before FSV, he was senior counsel at the US Department of the Treasury where he helped to implement the Direct Express card and other innovative payment technology for the government.
