Ashurst in layoff talks with 120 support staff

A third of the Ashurst support staff in London - 120 out of 350 - are at risk of being made redundant after consultations have been opened up.

The move comes soon after Ashurst opened its legal and business support staff in a new Glasgow office. Some of the people who could be laid off in London might be offered posts in Glasgow. The Glasgow office is recruiting and plans to arrive at a headcount of 150 within a year.

James Collis, managing partner of Ashurst, told Lawyers Weekly earlier this year: 'We are living in a world where law firms are run more and more like businesses.'
