One of Mr Benjamin’s first tasks will be to guide the company through a federal investigation over possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, stemming from reports of bribery in Avon’s Chinese operations, reports Compliance Week.
Mr Benjamin – who also joins Avon’s executive committee – most recently served at healthcare specialists Novartis Corporation in a variety of senior positions, including chief ethics and compliance officer. He began his legal career at New York law firm Kronish Lieb Shainswit Weiner & Hellman.
