BLP boosts global corporate finance team

BLP has beefed up its global corporate finance capacity by appointing a two partner US securities team in London.

Katherine Mulhern joins from Proskauer Rose whilst Bobby Schrader joins from BAML where he was assistant general counsel and director. The firm is looking to increase its US securities law and European regulatory advisory capacity for corporate and financial intermediary clients. Ms Mulhern founded the EMEA US securities practice at Hogan Lovells. At Proskauer Rose, she was the co-founder of its European capital markets practice. Mr Schrader worked at BAML since 2005 where he served as counsel to the equity capital markets division of the Bank’s Investment Banking Department in the EMEA region and later as counsel to the Global Research Business in London. Prior to his time at BAML, Mr Schrader worked for nine years at Linklaters in its London and Frankfurt offices. 

Small pool

The new team join regulatory partner Martin Sandler, who was appointed in March, having spent 10 years as head of the legal team on the BAML trading floor.  Commenting on the appointments, BLP managing partner Lisa Mayhew, said: 'There is a small pool of talented individuals in this particular marketplace but in Bobby and Katherine we have two people of high calibre with diverse experiences that give us the ability to advise clients at every level of the value chain in respect of capital market transactions in London. Their appointments, combining together with the regulatory skills of Martin Sandler, demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in our Corporate Finance offering.'

Banks and brokers

BLP’s corporate finance team has acted on over 60 IPOs since 2004, instructed by both a broad range of the banks and brokers. New clients include BCA Marketplace plc, Secure Income REIT, Crossrider plc, Plus500 Ltd, and XLMedia plc. Other active clients include Action Hotels, International Mining and Infrastructure Corporation (IMIC) and Redde plc among others.
