Alexandra Shapiro and Cynthia Arato say that they founded their practice after being conflicted out of handling some interesting cases at their former firms of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and Latham & Watkins.

They now advise others thinking of starting their own boutiques to 'go for the bigger cases'. The two lawyers say that the use of contract lawyers and technology tools now makes it possible for small firms to handle significant cases.
