Brown Rudnick has launched an office in Los Angeles with the hire of four partners from California firm Stubbs Alderton & Markiles.

The incoming team – Daniel Rozansky, Nicholas Rozansky, Jonathan Friedman and John De La Merced – bring expertise spanning litigation, corporate, privacy and brand management.

They advise clients across sectors including media, fashion, real estate, technology and consumer goods.

The office will be led by Dan Rozansky, who is ranked by Chambers and Partners for his media and entertainment litigation work.

He joins alongside his brother, Nick Rozansky, who focuses on commercial disputes, including partner and shareholder litigation, IP enforcement and business strategy.

Litigator John De La Merced has broad trial experience but also advises on pre-litigation strategy while Friedman specialises in M&A, venture capital and general corporate matters.

Brown Rudnick CEO and chairman Vince Guglielmotti said the team’s arrival underscored the firm’s commitment to growing its California presence in the firm’s core areas of brand and reputation management, technology, life sciences and crisis management.

He added: “We also have numerous clients based in LA who have encouraged us to grow our LA presence.”

The Los Angeles launch follows Brown Rudnick’s opening in Houston in August 2024 with the hire of veteran trial lawyer Adam Schiffer, a founding partner of Houston litigation boutique Schiffer Hicks Johnson.

The latest move marks Brown Rudnick’s seventh US office, adding to its presence in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Hartford, Orange County and Houston, as well as its longstanding London arm, home to leading media lawyer Charlotte Harris, who joined from Kingsley Napley in June 2023.
