Call for Rwandan lawyers to up their game

At the general assembly of the 1000 strong Rwanda Bar Association in Kigali, Minister of Justice Johnston Busingye challenged lawyers to up their game in an expanding market so that foreign investors with international cases could pick a Rwandan lawyer instead of having to look elsewhere.

Ready to compete

Bar president Athanase Rutabingwa said Rwandan lawyers were ready to compete with their colleagues from the East African Community.  He asked the minister to speak up for the bar in cases abroad where the defence team of a Rwandan suspected of genocide against the Tutsi, for example,  could consider getting a Rwandan lawyer to assist as foreign lawyers often missed evidence.
