Ms Dixon had spent two years leading legal department at the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; she will now be the chief executive of the NHS Litigation Authority, joining in advance of a major review of its legal panels, reports London-based newspaper Legal Week.
She replaces Steve Walker, who has retired from the NHSLA role.
Ms Dixon has previously worked as head of legal at private health care business Bupa and in private practice at London-headquartered law firm Eversheds.
The NSPCC is yet to appoint a new GC.
