The firm also promoted nine lawyers in Continental Europe, three in the US and three in Asia.
The firm made up 27 new partners last year, with six in London, and promoted seven in the UK in 2014, making this year’s intake of nine London partners the largest for some time.
With eight promotions in each, the firm’s finance and corporate practices have gained the most new partners this year. There were three promotions in capital markets, while tax, pensions and employment and litigation both received two new partners and real estate one.
The three new partners in Asia are all finance lawyers, as are two of the three made up in New York.
Clifford Chance’s European offices gain the most corporate specialists, with five of the eight new corporate partners based on the Continent.
The promotions will take effect from 1 May 2016 and will bring the total number of partners in the firm to 577.
