International corporate-commercial and mergers and acquisitions lawyer José María Rojí, previously of Ernst & Young Barcelona, takes charge of the new outpost.
CMS executive committee chairman Cornelius Brandi: ‘Spain is a very important country for us. Following the addition of CMS RPA in Portugal to CMS at the beginning of this year, our new presence in Barcelona is a further step in our Iberian expansion strategy.’

Dynamic Catalonia

The move sees CMS expand into Catalonia, one of Spain’s most dynamic regions, making up one-fifth of the national economy and generating 30 per cent of its exports.
Meanwhile, CMS DeBacker -- the Belgian and Luxembourg member of the network – has announced that managing partner Stanislas van Wassenhove is to step down after 12 years. He is to be succeeded at the beginning of next year by the current head of the public law practice, Eric Gillet.
