Andrew Bisbey has joined Cornerstone Barristers as its new senior clerk.

Bisbey joins the London set from Birmingham-headquartered No5 Barristers’ Chambers, where he spent more than 20 years, working with CEO Tony McDaid, and Birmingham director of clerking, Danny Griffiths, most recently as director of clerking for planning and environment – two of his new set’s key practice areas.

Bisbey’s arrival follows the short-lived appointment of former Brick Court Chambers joint senior clerk Julian Hawes last year, with Hawes later leaving the set and moving to McNair International, while Eliot Langsdorf, Hawes’ predecessor as senior clerk, moved to Gatehouse Chambers in March 2025.

Bisbey will work with Cornerstone’s members and clients, supporting chief executive officer Nadia Biles Davies, who herself replaced Claire Bello who moved to Littleton Chambers as chambers director last year.

Bisbey will lead the practice management team, working alongside deputy senior clerk Daryl Hughes and senior practice managers Daniel Gatt and George Regan. He said: “With members acting in many of the leading public law cases of the day and a strong track record of outstanding results for clients, Cornerstone continues to go from strength to strength following the best financial year in its history.”

James Findlay KC and Robin Green, the set’s joint heads of chambers, who replaced Philip Coppel KC and Tom Cosgrove KC as the set’s leaders in July 2025, welcomed the move, saying Bisbey’s “proven leadership and track record will be a tremendous asset”.

They added: “Andrew’s understanding of practice management and his dedication to client service align perfectly with our values. His arrival strengthens our clerking and practice management team as we continue to grow our practice. We are confident that with Andrew on board, Cornerstone will build on its momentum and continue delivering excellence for our clients.”

Biles Davies also welcomed the news, saying: “He joins with an established record of excellence as a senior clerk. He will play an important role in the next phase of chambers’ growth and development. We are building on a position of strength, and this appointment reflects our ambition.”

Bisbey has been replaced at No5 – where he worked during a period of extensive growth at the Midlands Circuit set, including expansion into London and Bristol – by Marc Forrest-Thomas.
