However, a spokesperson for the courts warned law firms that the email has not in fact been sent from the Supreme Court and advised anyone receiving the mail to delete it without opening it.

Do not answer mail

‘The email refers to a changed or new statutory instrument and asks firms to open a PDF attachment and to provide certain details by this Friday,’ he explained. ‘This attachment attempts to divert the user to a website outside the jurisdiction. All lawyers are advised not to provide any details or answer this mail.’

Beware

The email with the subject line ‘Supreme Court (S.I. No691/2017)) – Immediate Action Required’ is being forwarded to the Irish police.
