Covington & Burling lists 158 partners in the Washington DC office, including Eric H Holder Jr, the partner who left Covington to become Attorney General in 2009 and who returned this year when he stood down from the office.

The National Law Journal comments that the US capital's legal market has become 'increasingly concentrated around the premium, largest law firms as mid-tier offices get bogged down, unable to grow or assert themselves in the competitive capital city'.
