A slice of the pie: all equity at Cuatrecasas

The decision was made at last month’s partnership meeting and will see an updated partnership model implemented, under which lateral hires will be made salaried partners for at least two years before being integrated into the equity – unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Managing partner Rafael Fontana said the move will enhance ‘cohesion, integration and growth,’ adding that the move was approved by ‘close to 100 per cent’ of those at the partnership meeting.
The two-day event held in Madrid also resulted in promotions for Ramon Gil, Alfredo Lafita and Alfonso Reina (in the corporate department), Pedro Blazquez (finance and tax) and Gonzalo Susueta (litigation).
According to the Legal Week report, Cuatrecasas posted static revenues in 2011, climbing just 0.4 per cent (£203 million). But the senior partnership defended the low growth rate. Mr Fontana said that considering the economic difficulties and instability in the Iberian peninsula and surrounding countries, the firm’s performance was ‘very satisfactory’.
