The firm has appointed new members to its board of directors following a voting process. It has also made significant changes to the duties carried out by the chairman and chief executive.
Succession planning
Emilio Cuatrecasas will continue as chairman of the firm but Rafael Fontana, the chief executive, will take over many of the chairman’s previous executive responsibilities in what is seen as succession planning.
Following the July voting process, the new board of directors is as follows: Emilio Cuatrecasas (chairman); Rafael Fontana (chief executive officer); Raimundo Segura (secretary); and Martí Adroer, Jorge Badía, Ricardo Echevarría, Alberto Moya, Diogo Perestrelo, Francisco Pérez-Crespo, Antón Pérez-Iriondo, Eduardo Ramírez, Diogo Perestrelo, María Joao Ricou and Miguel Trías (members).
International expansion
Reflecting on the changes, Rafael Fontana said: ‘I aim to continue with the projects defined by the former board of directors, to constantly contribute value to the firm, and to continue with the firm’s business strategy, particularly focusing on its international expansion. To help me with these tasks, I have a team of enthusiastic lawyers willing to continue making progress towards the service our clients require from us.’
