DAC Beachcroft takes £4m hit in failed IT project

DAC Beachroft reveals that the firm took a £4.39m hit in a failed IT project whilst showing a 20 per cent increase in profits in its latest accounts.

The accounts for 2014/15 show that the London-based firm wrote off £1.5m after giving up on the project to change its case management system, having written off a further £2.89m associated with the project the year before.

Back to the drawing board

David Gillard, DAC finance director, said the firm had employed external consultants to work with staff to develop a case management system. However, in October 2014 it was decided the project was no longer of value and,  according to Mr Gillard,  the firm has not implemented a new system since then. He said that the firm would consider other routes such as hiring an external software company.

Increase in profits

Despite this, the firm announced a 20 per cent increase in profits for the financial year 2014/15 and a jump in profit for division among members to £30.5m from £25.5m. Source: Legal Business
