A jury took just half a day to decide on the death penalty for Mr Williams. As well as being found guilty of the homicide of Cynthia McLelland, he is being tried separately for the double capital murder of her husband, Mike, the District Attorney of Kaufman County in Texas, and his assistant, Mark Hasse.

Witnesses in the trial had said that Mr Williams also wished to kill the current District Attorney in Kaufman County. The evidence against him in the trial relating to Mrs McLelland was only circumstantial. Kim Williams, the convicted man's wife, also testified against him in the trial. She is facing capital murder charges in relation to the three deaths, accused of being the getaway driver when they were shot in Dallas. Source: ABA
