Dechert documents given to SFO investigators

Documents prepared by the law firm Dechert have been passed on by a former client, ENRC (Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation), to the Serious Fraud Office in London.

Investigations being undertaken in Kazaakhstan Grafvision

The SFO is investigating the possibility of fraud, bribery and corruption in the miner's operations in parts of Africa and Kazakhstan. Dechert had been hired by ENRC to investigate corporate governance issues. The company is now being advised by Debevoise & Plimpton and Fulcrum Chambers. According to the Financial Times, the documents were handed over after the SFO investigators demanded to see all non-privileged documentation. Some had to be given over by the end of the August and a second tranche will go two months later. ENRC's chief executive Felix Vulis is quoted as saying: 'We continue to work closely with [the SFO] and remain committed to a full and transparent investigation of all our procedures and conduct.'
