Engineers are prouder of their profession than lawyers

Lawyers come half way down a survey ranking professional pride - putting them well below engineers and property specialists but ahead of accountants.

68 per cent of engineers and 59 per cent of lawyers claimed to be proud of their profession Minerva Studio

In the survey of 2,000 Britons conducted by Randstad recruiters, insurance industry workers came out as the group most likely to 'feel proud of my profession' - with 90 per cent claiming to be proud. Other high-scorers were property specialists (83 per cent), the media (81 per cent) and engineers (68 per cent). The lawyers (59 per cent) came in just above the national average of 58 per cent. At the bottom are the rail industry (32 per cent), accountants (44 per cent) and nurses (45 per cent). 

Weekly hours

The survey also gives average weekly hours worked - 33 hours and 32 minutes for people in the law, 33 hours and 50 minutes for the accountancy sector and, the highest level recorded, 39 hours and 43 minutes in the wholesale area.
