Europe fuels Baker M&A in Latin America

Some 42 per cent of the M&A deals that Baker & McKenzie worked on in H1 2014 in Latin America came from Europe - while fewer deals, 34 per cent in total, came from the US.

In comparison, only nine per cent of the work was generated in South America itself. Jaime Trujillo, chair of the firm's Latin American M&A group, said: 'It was to a certain extent surprising to us because the deal flow coming from the US has always been perceived to be higher.'
