Eversheds and Foley turn back on shared future

Foley & Lardner is understood to have decided against merging with Eversheds - even though it was said to be Eversheds' preferred merger partner just a week ago.

Jay Rothman, CEO of Foley, is quoted as saying: 'We have advised Eversheds that we are not interested in engaging in further discussions on that topic.' He is also understood to have said that no decision had ever been made by his firm to enter into a merger with Eversheds. 

Public comments

Eversheds has not commented, but explained that 'until we are clear on the way forward, it would be wholly inappropriate to comment publicly.' Source: Legal Business
