Eversheds Sutherland is launching BDCESSENTIALS, an app positioned as a dynamic information hub for the business development company (BDC) industry.

Logical step

Geared toward BDC and private equity professionals, investors, asset managers and financial service providers, BDCESSENTIALS aggregates news, data and insights vital to the BDC industry in one convenient and digitally accessible location, an app on a mobile device. BDCs, publicly held investment funds that provide access to capital for small and middle-market companies, have emerged as a growing source of capital for a significant sector of the US economy. BDCs allow investors access to regulated investment funds with opportunities that otherwise may not be accessible, along with certain tax benefits. “We are always looking for innovative ways to bring the BDC community together and provide resources necessary for stakeholders in the BDC industry,” said Cynthia M Krus, executive partner of Eversheds Sutherland (US). “BDCESSENTIALS was the logical next step for us to deliver readily accessible information in a growing, data-driven industry.”

Pioneering BDC

Eversheds Sutherland’s BDC team has pioneered the industry and counseled clients on the first shelf offering that allowed easy access to the market, the first non-traded BDC and the first privately structured BDC, and structured the first joint venture with an institutional lender. The team has also advised on the vast majority of the BDC industry’s strategic and formation transactions, and has consistently created tools, publications and events, including the website Publicly Traded Private Equity and the annual BDC Roundtable that have become indispensable resources to the BDC industry. The BDCESSENTIALS app can be downloaded through the Apple App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
