Ex-Cravath Swaine associate continues Silicon Valley battle on alleged sexism

Ellen Pao is to appeal a decision on the sex discrimination she brought against her former employer, venture capital business Kleiner Perkins - in what is seen by her supporters as a campaign against widespread sexism in the US's main high-tech zone.

The case was closely followed in California and around the world for the spotlight it put on the lack of women in senior management positions in Silicon Valley. But a jury rejected all four of her claims, alleging discrimination and retaliation by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. She has now put in a notice of appeal to the San Francisco Superior Court and has to state the grounds by 11 July.

Now 45, she worked for Cravath Swaine between 1994 and 1996, in both its New York and Hong Kong offices. She was a partner in Kleiner Perkins and is now interim chief executive at discussion forum Reddit.  She has been at Reddit two years. Sources: Financial Times and CrunchBase
