EY legal arm plans doubling of lawyer team in UK

The Big Four accountancy firm, previously known as Ernst & Young, plans to increase its UK legal team from 30 to 60 lawyers within a year.

The expansion strategy comes within a year of the firm acquiring its ABS licence from the Solicitors Regulation Authority Bocman 1973

Looking beyond the 12-month horizon, Philip Goodstone, head of EY's legal services, said: 'Beyond that we do have plans to grow but it has to be growth in the right way rather than growth for growth’s sake.' The firm plans to recruit lawyers from Magic Circle and US firms and others in the Big Four.
