Freshfields and KWM lead in Asia Pacific M&A

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer leads by deal value, and King & Wood Mallesons by deal number, in the Mergermarket data for H1 in 2014.

KWM acted on 60 transactions, and Freshfields handled deals worth US$66.2b. Other highly-placed firms include Davis Polk & Wardwell, Allens, Kim & Chang, Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Herbert Smith Freehills. 

Strongest since 2001

The first six months of 2014 represent there strongest half year for M&A in the zone since 2001. There were 1,402 deals, valued together at US$286.7b. In comparison with H1 2013, the statistics are up by 57% (value) and 14% (number). China accounted for the highest value of deals in the area, totalling US$128b. Source: Legal Week
