According to accounts filed on Wednesday at Companies Houses in London, total profit and remuneration awarded to the firm's highest-paid partner increased by 68 per cent year-on-year from £1.9m in 2014 to £3.2m in 2015. However, the boost runs counter to the broader mood of Freshfields' accounts. Profits edged up just 0.1 per cent over the year to 30 April 2015, while profits available for discretionary division among the firm's 334 members was down 13 per cent from £552.1m in fiscal-2014 to £481.3m last year. This translates into roughly £1.4m per head. Total salary paid to Freshfields' staff was also down, from £466.1m to £460.6m. The firm has not yet commented on the details of the accounts.
