Bryan Cave partner Robert Dougans is stepping in to replace Gibson Dunn partner Philip Rocher in advising on GFH Capital's multiple disputes with Mr Haigh. The decision comes just weeks after Mr Haigh returned to the United Kingdom following his release from prison in Dubai. Mr Haigh had been imprisoned in relation to a still-ongoing claim brought against him in the Dubai International Financial Centre courts by Gibson Dunn on behalf of GFH, which accuses him of falsifying £3m worth of invoices connected to the sale of previously GFH-owned Leeds United Football Club.
Mr Dougans will also represent GFH in its various other disputes with its former GC, including a judicial review brought by Mr Haigh to challenge a £230,000 costs order handed down in October. Mr Haigh has instructed defence firm Kaim Todner to bring the judicial review.
