Keith Simmons, managing partner at leading Tennessee law firm Bass Berry & Sims, has been elected chairman of independent law firm association Lex Mundi by the global organisation's board of directors.

The decision was made at the Lex Mundi leadership summit and annual meeting in Washington DC. Also elected at the event were Nadège Nguyen of Paris-based international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel, to the position of chair-elect, Keith Vaughan of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice (North Carolina) to the position of secretary and James DeMent of Baker Botts (Texas) as Treasurer.
Christel Van den Eynden of Belgium firm Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick and Alvin Shiozaki of Japanese practice Nishimura & Asahi will also serve on the network’s executive committee.
