US-listed tech company GoDaddy has hired Jared Sine as its chief legal and strategy officer, replacing Michele Lau who left in November.

Sine joins from online dating company and Tinder-owner Match Group, where most recently he was chief business affairs and legal officer. At GoDaddy, he will be responsible for the company’s strategy, legal, corporate and business development functions, reporting directly to CEO Aman Bhutani. He will take up his post on 18 March. Arizona-based GoDaddy provides web hosting, domain registration and other web-related services.

Bhutani said: “Jared brings deep expertise and highly varied business experience that will help GoDaddy and the entrepreneurs we serve thrive.”

Sine spent almost eight years at Match, first as general counsel before being promoted to CLO in 2019 and then his latest role in 2021. While at Match, he helped steer its $20bn separation from InterActiveCorp, as well as the company’s acquisition of dating app Hinge.

Prior to joining Match, he spent four-and-a-half years at Expedia, working his way up to associate GC for M&A and integration, having joined as senior corporate counsel. He was previously a senior associate at Latham & Watkins and an associate at Cravath Swaine & Moore.

He said: “I love technology that makes it easier for people to do the things they love, and I’m inspired by GoDaddy’s mission to empower entrepreneurs everywhere through its technology platform. This is an exciting time to join GoDaddy as it continues its own tech evolution, and I’m eager to work with Aman and the amazing GoDaddy team to deliver on this mission.”

Sine’s arrival ends a roughly three-month hunt for Lau’s replacement. She rejoined US healthcare giant McKesson at the start of this year as CLO after former incumbent Lori Schechter announced she was stepping down last November. Lau was at GoDaddy for two-and-a-half years, having previously spent more than 13 years at McKesson, latterly as associate GC. Prior to that she was a corporate attorney at Morrison & Foerster.

Meantime, Match Group says it has appointed associate GC for litigation, IP and compliance, Jeanee Teckman, as its interim CLO.
